The calculator uses the standard future value of an annuity due: each instalment is invested at the start of the month and compounds for the remaining term. For a monthly investment P, a monthly rate i (annual return divided by twelve) and n instalments, the corpus is P × ((1 + i)n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i).
A constant rate is an assumption, not a forecast. Real equity returns arrive unevenly, and the order in which good and bad years fall changes the outcome. Treat the number as a planning range rather than a promise.
